Victoria College’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department is offering art classes for personal enrichment this summer and fall.
A watercolor for botanical illustrations class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays on July 10-26. Students will learn tonal values, sketching and composition through watercolor painting. An instructor will guide students in drawing or painting a composition. The cost for the class, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., is $155 and includes all materials.
A collage class will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 3. The class, which will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will introduce collage and decoupage techniques using a variety of materials and surfaces. The cost for the class is $145 and includes all materials.
The printmaking technique of linocut will be taught on Mondays and Wednesdays from Oct. 15 to Nov. 7. Students will create a unique relief print by carving synthetic linoleum blocks with linocutting tools. Patterns, positive and negative space, texture and color will be studied as students complete a full edition of prints. The cost for the class, which will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., is $175 and includes all materials.
All the art classes will be held in Room 302 of the Conference & Education Center at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex, which is located at 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria.
