VC honors eight graduates of EMT Course

Group Eight graduates of Victoria College’s Emergency Medical Technician Course were honored during a ceremony on Aug. 7 at VC’s Student Center.

Eight graduates of Victoria College’s Summer 2018 Emergency Medical Technician Course were honored with a ceremony on Aug. 7 at VC’s Student Center.

Carlo Martinez was named the class valedictorian. Pamela Yanta was named class salutatorian and also received the Peer Award for Best in Class. Dana Matthew-Woodward received the Best Skills Performance Award, and Maitlin Couk received the Best Clinical Performance Award.

The students completed 80 hours of hands-on clinical training in emergency room, respiratory therapy and emergency medical services while also completing six credit hours of classroom lecture and labs totaling over 124 hours.

The next EMT course begins Wednesday, Aug. 22 for the fall semester on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. To register for the course or to obtain more information, contact Victoria College EMS Program Coordinator Susie Jechow at (361) 572-6426 or Susie.Jechow@VictoriaCollege.edu.
